How You Can
Help
Many people contact the Honduran Mission to ask
how they can help. Not
everyone can go to Houduras, but anyone can help. Linda
Tripp sent the photo
to the left and asked that it be posted. Her Dacatur team
has started an ambitious
project to provide funding for children so that they can
attend school. The project
is just now underway so it would be a perfect time to help.
We have incredible opportunity here in this country and
there is so much need in
much of the world. You can't fix all the problems of the
world, but if you can help one
child...well there is no better place to start. Click

Sponsorship
Needed for Experienced Construction Worker
When we gave our "report"
at Central UMC, a gal came forward who is very desirous of going
on a mission team to Honduras. She said she has worked construction
for 25 years, and wants to be a part of a construction project.
Paulette and I told her of the need to make plans to work on
Shane's house. She really wants to go. BUT, she does not have
the money. If a team needs a lady to help with construction,
I suggest you talk to her, and offer her a full scholarship.
She will have the expense of a passport, and the immunizations,
and those costs will run around $250, as I remember. So that
is probably all she could manage. She is:
D. J. Harris, 3498 Co. Rd. 316; Trinity, AL 35673.
Home PH = (256) 355-9833; Cell PH = (256) 221-3906
I do not know D. J.--she is listed as a new member of Central.
Cheryl Blankenship, who is moving this Conference, will be glad
to talk to anyone who wants to learn more about her. Cheryl
may be reached at:
Work = (256) 353-6941; home = 355-7436; cell = 642-9666.

Sister Eleanor's Fridge
Fund
This is going to you as leaders of various aspects of our Honduran
Mission. I have not sent this to all of the participants. I
need for you to contact anyone you think appropriate for this
request.
Sister Eleanor called this week with a special request. Her
refrigerator in the La Ceiba Compound is on the blink and cannot
be fixed. She has asked if we could get her a new one on the
April 2nd container. What to do?
1. Jean Boshell''s brother-in-law is a manager at Home Depot
and she is checking on getting us "a deal".
2. There is $350 so far raised for the fridge.
3. Ken Key of Mission Unlimited has offered to "put in"
some money.
4. Please check with your team members and see if they are willing
to make a donation. If each person made a small donation, we
could raise this without any problem. Send the checks/money
to AHMEN, mark for Sister Eleanor's fridge fund, and send to
:

| Be the Healing Hands of God
– For over a year I have been attempting to locate
sponsors for a young girl in La Ceiba by the name of Alejandra
Cornejo. She is a little girl about 8 years old, who suffers
apparently from Cerebral Palsy. She is, like so many of those
we love, from a single parent home. Her Mom works as a cleaning
lady at the local pharmacy and makes a good living, but it is
not enough to provide for her other two children, plus the expenses
related to caring for a special needs child. Sandy has made
arrangements for this angel to get the physical therapy that
she needs, but it costs $3 a trip for transportation. This is
approx. $60 per month. After not having much luck getting a
sponsor for this little girl, I came up with this………If
20 people give $3 per month ($36 per year), then we can get
Alejandra to therapy 5 days a week for a year !! Think of the
life-changing experience that this can be for her. I am about
half-way there, and have begun to send $60 per month, but I
am still in need of more sponsors. If this is something that
touches your heart, please make checks payable to Columbiana
UMC, mark for “therapy” and mail to me - Jane Cox,
715 Paradise Point, Columbiana, AL 35051. I will send you a
picture of Alejandra and will make sure we are updated on her
condition. I don’t have to tell you that anything you
give back to God for this little girl will come back to you
a thousand times !!! May God continue to bless each of you. |
We have all we need in this country. We
even have all we don’t need. In third world countries that
is not the case. Honduras is one of those countries. Children there
cannot attend the public schools unless they have a uniform. A uniform
that costs less than $20. $20 and the cost of school supplies are
standing in the way of an education. They have no friends at school
because they aren’t in school. They have no school memories.
No memories of learning the alphabet, learning to multiply, playing
at recess, or learning to stand in line. No hopscotch or tag on
the playground or staying after school because of misbehavior. No
learning the power of the printed word. There will not be school
memories for 77 children in Yorito. How many in LaCeiba, Limon,
Rotan? No money for uniforms and supplies, no school.
What would your life be like today without an education, without
having learned to read? What would the lives of your children/grandchildren
be like if they could not read? Well, these children in Honduras
are YOUR CHILDREN too. We are responsible for them. We all belong
to God’s wonderful family and He says we’re responsible.
Love is not a choice…it is a command, says John 13:34.
Your children need your help. They need to learn to read and to
learn mathematics. Yes, even Algebra! How can you help? My friends,
how can you not help?
A school sponsorship program has been started to fund these children.
For $60 per child per year, you may send a child to school in Yorito.
(cost may vary according to city). This will also provide for needed
school supplies. An education for 10 years for $600. Wow. Most of
us spend way more than that on Christmas presents. Please, please,
get financially involved in the education of YOUR children. Jesus
said that the harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. Please,
be a worker for these children. Send your donations by Christmas
for enrollment the next term, which is February 2005. Nontaxable
donations may be sent to: Wesley Methodist Church (for Yorito children
only, or AHMEN for other cities) On memo line, mark “Honduras
education” Mail to me and I will send you a child’s
name, address, and possibly a photo. Linda Tripp 2907 Carrington
