Library Project
Hi Guys,
My brother Bill noticed there was a distinct dearth of books in
Plan de Flores at the woodworking school.
Jane Cox noticed the school books of the kids from Plan de Flores
were "horrible". The book her little girl
was reading was on learning your colors - the color purple was so
faded you couldn't tell what color it was.
Here's an Idea: Put a library in the dorm at the woodworking school.
Bill is willing to set it up when he goes down in May:
Things to consider:
Organize the books show Marianna or someone else, how to keep it
running
Get the students to make books shelves
Open the Library to the local kids/adults
What does Bill need from us?
SUPPORT FOR THE PROJECT
and, you guessed it, Spanish Books.
Where do you get them?
1. Your local library either throws away or sales old books for
1 cent on the dollar
ask one of your team members to check this out and be in charge
of the LIBRARY PROJECT.
If each of our teams did this at each of the towns we represent
- you can imagine the results.
2. Jane Cox idea was to ask each team member to go to the local
book store and buy one book
written in Spanish, take it to Plan de Flores, and put it in the
library.
3. Another idea, most of the local school systems now have some
Spanish books. They will throw
them away periodically and replace them with new ones. Ask another
of your team members, use a
teacher if you have one, to check this out.
4. What other ideas? Let us/Bill Camp/Jane Cox/me know of your ideas
to stock the library and we
will pass this on. Ask your team members for ideas.
Vaya con Dios,
Tom Camp.
p.s. if you will get the books to Jasper before March 2005 we will
get them to Honduras before our teams get there and they will get
to see the results of their work.
