Computers for Garifina Library Project 2010
Two years ago, AHMEN and CHIMES, opened 12 new libraries along
the Garifina Coast of Honduras.
Last year, CHIMES and AHMEN hosted the First Garifina Library
Seminar, hosting representatives from all 12 of the new libraries,
facilitating discussions between librarians, and distributing
over 500 Spanish and Garifina books for the libraries.
This year, the librarians have asked for a repeat of the seminar
and had three specific requests.
- Bring a trained librarian to help the new librarians encourage
use of the libraries and teach them protection and utilization
of their books.
- Bring a lap top Computer for each librarian to use to teach
their students. They would like to use their libraries as “mini-computer
schools” to equip the youth of their villages for the
future.
- Bring books to help teach “English as a second Language”,
again to better equip the youth of their villages for the future.
Do you want be a part of this ministry concentrating on preparing
kids for the future? Here Is how you can help.
- If you are a librarian, or know a librarian, join our mission
Sept. 17 - 27, ’10.
- Find a used, or new, lap top in working condition and get
it to us. Also, they need 5 printers.
- Ask your school about donating their “English as a
Second Language” system to us.
Sounds like fun? You bet it is, and you can make a difference
in multiple young people’s lives.

Location of the libraries opened within the past 2 years.
Cosuna, in red, will be the location for the seminar
