Utila Team Update - June 2009

Ola -
The trip over was fine, and only one person got sick on the plane - (it was NOT me, Mary Jo!)  thanks for praying for me about that.
It had not rained here in over a month, until last night - we got a light shower, to settle the dust.  Brent said no rain was a good thing because the earthquake - mixed with rain would have caused mudslides.  We have seen the main bridge which was out due to the earthquake and there is a make-shift ditch/dirt road where they are rerouteing traffic.  The hour and fifteen minute ferry ride to the island, NO ONE got sick in spite of rough waters.  The church we went to on Saturday night had some cracks caused by the earth quake and in some places LaCeiba has a lot of evident of the 7.1 quake.  Here in Utila, much has changed since last year.  The main and only road down the center of Utila has been concreted and there are actual garbage cans where the trash was just thrown down last year.  We have two main prayer requests.  Well actually, God has already taken care of one of them.  Alexis was stung by a jellyfish or something this morning when she went for a swim and had a very bad reactioin to it.  After meds, prayer, and sleep she is getting better this afternoon and able to get out of bed.  THe other request is that Matt (a member of our team) had his money and cell phone stolen last night.  The other members have made up the money so he is fine.  The clinics start in the morning; we are looking forward to sharing the GOOD NEWS.  Yes, it is very hot here and sweat is abundant.  We love you all and thank you for the prayer support and please keep praying for us.
Love, Dale & Brenda
ps The team devotions morning and night have been awesome!
