Sister Eleanor’s Mission Compound Needs a New Transformer
Money is always tight at the mission compound, mainly because Sister Eleanor gives it all away. One of my favorite stories is about the American who came to visit Sister Eleanor. They were walking thru the town of La Ceiba and he noticed a lady on the side of the road and asked Sister Eleanor about her. “She has lost her husband, has 5 kids, and doesn’t have a way to feed them. Why don’t you give her some money.” He did.
On the next block Sister Eleanor pointed out a fellow selling our of a cart. “His wife died of AIDS, he has 6 kids and is trying to make enough money to send them all to school, why don’t you give him a little money.” He did.
On the next block, he noticed three little boys playing. “They don’t have a mom or a dad; they live with their 80 year old grandmother, why don’t you give them money for something to eat.” He did.
At the end of their walk the man said, “Lady, I didn’t come to Honduras to give all of my money away.” To which Sister Eleanor replied, “Buddy, you are hanging around with the wrong lady.”
With this in mind, we need to take note of the fact that the electricity bill for the girls dorm, the mission compound, and the ancillary buildings is over $1,500 per month. The electricity company says they have two problems.

  • They need a new transformer
  • The buildings need rewiring

Good News: There is a team going to work on the compound
Bad News: They need a transformer donated before the March 14 preloading date.

Please contact any and everyone you know that might have a transformer to donate..
Here is the information we have from Brent, our Honduran AHMEN Reps.
Doris and I met yesterday with Ron Turner, the Canadian manager for the local power company here on Utila.  We showed him the info Sandy had given us ( 1 Trans Aciete (oil?)  75.0 KVA  34.5  120-240v) and he said to send you the following: system voltage is 34.5 KV line to line.  Transformer would be connected line to neutral (ground) at 19,920 volts.  Single bushing or double bushing.  He said if you had any more questions you could e-mail him directly at: trrnld@gmail.com.
Hope this is helpful.
