Deaf School Assistance

To: All interested supporters of the Deaf School at Plan de Flores, Honduras

God's best to you today. Thank you both for all you are doing for the Deaf school.

Here is the report from Mariana on the children that are in the school:

Deaf children who are living at the school are:

1) Alex Ortega (Lela, this is who we would switch your sponsorship to)

2) Miguel Beltran

3) Bernardo Ventura

4) Cristian Salinas

5) Melky Guardado

Deaf children who come to the school but does not live there constantly are:

6) Ondina Urgos (girl)

7) Yolanda (girl)

3 boys who live there and are in school:

8) Brian Flowers- 13 yrs. assist 3rd. grade at Plan de Flores

9) Melvin - 8th. grade middle school at Limon

10) Ronny Javian - 7th. grade middle school at Limon

The last 3 boys were brought in to Plan de Flores with the expectation of going to regular school and also taking woodworking classes, however although they could not get a woodworking teacher, Mariana permited them to continue so they could get a year of their regular schooling. Plan de Flores is their best option at the moment.

Andres who is a deaf young man and who was also in the woodworking is who Lela was originally sponsoring, he decided to try to find a job, but does plan to come back to the deaf school.

Financial: For this month of September we were only able to send Marian for food a total of $200.00, plus $64.00 for a payment for the sign language teacher.

These children started in February and we have only been receiving very little sponsorship for them. At the beginning of September Mariana owed at the grocery store a little over $1,000.00, this includes also $215.00 she owes to the lady who does the cooking for the children.

The funds she receives are used for food, school supplies, basic hygiene supplies (soap, toilet paper, etc..)

For her to continue the school next year she will need to be receiving at least $500.00 to $600.00 monthly.

Sandy, we have several folks ready to step in and be a part of the Deaf School sponsorship, but they want the following information every month:

1. a report from Marianna on the number of kids in the school

2. One thing about what they did this month.

3. What their money was used for this month

4. a monthly financial report from the school,

i.e. food, school supplies, etc.

If you and Marianna agree to this, you can simply e-mail it to:

Lela Aaron-Vincent and she will send it on to the various sponsors and put it on the web page.

Lots of folks here want to get feedback re. their sponsorships and how the money is being spent. I guess since the money is getting tight in the USA, they want to know exactly where it is going and what it is being used for.
