Leading Teams: Some thought on New Teams and New Areas

1. Begin with small teams, especially when taking in new teams, new areas, mission areas with no history and no previous infrastructure
2. Ask God for guidance – regularly
3. Road Manager: This person must accept her/his responsibilities and understand it. Best if the person is local, in country resident.
1. Food – who buys and how much
2. Cooks – who, trained in “no e. coli” cooking, how much to pay, etc
3. Transportation, who pays, etc
4. Sleeping arrangements – safe, clean, bring sheets, etc.
5. Clinic – where to work, what supplies, equipment needed
6. Help from locals – support persons, what to pay, etc

4. People Person: This person must know how to get along and be an encourager.
1. Not the same person as road manager,
2. Not the same person as the Team Leader
3. Job assignments, willing to listen and change job assignments
4. Interpersonal communications skills imperative
5. Watch for and help with relationship problems within the team.

5. Banker: This person must be able to cross t’s and dot I’s.
1. Must be free to work on there books and pay folks
