Larry Pitts Passes Away
Larry Pitts, who was very active in the Honduran Mission passed away recently. He was an individual volunteer serving in Honduras. His ministry focused on the island of Utila just off the Northern Coast of Honduras. He had just completed a home for a mother with five children. The father had died of AIDS and the mother, who is 32, has active AIDS. The children range in ages of 5 years to 15. It was important to Larry to finish the home for this women and her children so that the children will continue to have a home
when their mother dies.
Visitation at 1:00 pm and Memorial Service 1:30 pm this Saturday, January 12 at Livingston Chapel, Crane Hill, Alabama.
NOTE FROM HUGH GUFFY: Ever since hearing about Larry’s death, I have found myself thinking about his sweet and willing spirit. Prompted by one of our Discovery team members, I scanned through my picture files today to pick the one that best depicted our dear friend. It was a picture of Larry and Annie (Marianna’s daughter) taken in the corridor between the shop building and the dorm at the woodworking school in Plan de Flores. Larry sits with his arm around Annie with this big grin on his face. Larry and I roomed together on Jane Cox’s most recent trip and he often told me about the love he felt for the children. I plan on bringing my “best Larry pix” to the January meeting and would like to encourage everyone else to do so as well. Maybe we can prevail on Paulette and the Methodist Center to provide us with a board where we could post our pictorial tribute to Larry. If you or one of your team members has a photo that they would like to share but is not planning on attending, please send it to me as a .gif or .jpg attachment to an email. I will be glad to print it and deliver it to the meeting. More Tributes.
