Two Containers on the way to Honduras April 2008
This was the first time AHMEN has tried
two containers at one time and it was
lots of work. On the other hand, there is 80 ft X 12 ft X 10
ft. of supplies, medicine, clothes, food, equipment,
books, desk, chairs, examining tables, appliances, building materials, nails, roofing, hospital
equipment,
and whatever is needed to supply medical teams, construction
teams, sewing schools, woodworking schools,
libraries, feeding kitchens, orphanages, day cares,
dormitories, women shelters, homes, hospitals, clinics, and
churches with many of the things God has given
us to privilege of sending to Honduras.
What happens when people work together? There were folks
from Columbiana,
Pumpkin Center, Homewood, Jasper, Waverly, Weaver, Hoover,
Curry, Arley, Birmingham, Hancel, Livingston
Chapel, Cordova, South Carolina, Auburn, Pensacola,
Montgomery, Florence, and Tennessee. Also, participating
in the loading was folks form Decatur, Al. and Wesley Methodist
Church.
Churches represented were Livingston Chapel, B'ham Baptist,
First Baptist Japer, Christ Church Jasper,
Saragossa Nazarene, Columbiana UMC, Pumpkin Center
Baptist, Sumiton Church of God, Auburn UMC, Ch of Highlands, Northside
Baptist, Jackson First UMC, Hunter Chapel, Discovery UMC, Mt. Vernon Baptist, and Lutheran Church of Tuscaloosa.
Thanks to the hard work of Sandy Palencia, the two containers
were donated. That means we can send two for
the price of one. Each team that send materials paid a total of $400. This covered the total expense
of getting
both containers to La Ceiba and unloading.
Also, a big thanks goes to Dole for their sending of the two
containers free of charge.
As usual, the container committee, all the folks who sent items,
the folks who loaded, Houston Wood and Mr.
Wade for the warehouse, plus all the folks who make this possible get a big pat on the back.
