Ciriboya Clinic Update Aug. ‘07
The Ciriboya Clinic continues to work toward its ultimate goal of a fully functional outpatient hospital. CHIMES and Dr. Luther Castillo are spearheading this exciting project. Several things have happened just in the past month.
Global Links, a USA health supply system, is sending down a 40 ft. container chucked full of all types of clinic/hospital equipment needed to stock the Ciriboya Clinic. Imagine 40 ft container full of stuff you need, and you got it.
The second contingency of docs/medical personnel from Cuba will be arriving in Ciriboya even as we speak. The new group will consist of 6 doctors, but a different 6 from the ones we have been working with, and have come to love, over the past year. We don’t have their names yet, but should by the time Lexie Hilton’s AHMEN team comes back in 10 days. Dennis Rochez and Dr. Luther will be picking the docs up in Toccoa and taking them to the Ciriboya area to help them set up in their new home. Thanks to Dennis, the recent Cuban trained Honduran docs, CHIMES and AHMEN for your help in the process.
Another group of Honduran medical students will be working in the Gariffina area over next month. Dr. Luther has organized this 100 member Medical Brigade who will at least partially working out of the Ciriboya Clinic.
Several AHMEN teams have contributed medicine for the clinic use. Keep up this necessary good work. A clinic without medicine is in a difficult way.
AHMEN team leader Steve Kilgore from Weaver, Alabama is putting together a construction team for 2008 to build a 20 bed dormitory for workers to stay in when working in the Clinic and Clinic area. To be a part of this team or for more information contact Steve at: kilgore15@cableone.net
The Rotary Club of Jasper, Alabama has sent down money for the septic tank for the clinic and that is high on the list of the construction team from Limon, Honduras.

What next?

Several pressing projects:
1. There is a need for an incinerator. Anyone with knowledge of how to build and finance a safe way to dispose of the normal things that will be coming out of the Ciriboya clinic, please contact Bill Camp: 916-612-9999 or Teresa Villanesor: teresa@sacramentolabor.org.
2. A constant source of clean water for the clinic and the community. Does anyone know of folks who work with an organization that would help with this? Contact Bill or Teresa.
3. There is a need for transportation of the supplies that Ciriboya is getting from Global Links. The supplies will be delivering to Toccoa, so transportation to the Clinic from Toccoa is needed. Any ideas on trucks, gas money etc? Again, contact Bill or Teresa.

Congratulations and THANKS to everyone who is working on this project.
