Jane Cox Eye Team Report for June 2007

The Eye Team examined 112 people for eye diseases and abnormalities, made 35 pairs of prescription glasses, and distributed 85 pairs of reading glasses. The approximate breakdown is:

Plan de Flores: 36 patients, 17 pairs of prescription glasses, 27 pairs of reading glasses.

Limon: 59 patients, 14 pairs of prescription glasses, 45 pairs of reading glasses.

Icoteas: 17 patients, 4 pairs of prescription glasses, 13 pairs of reading glasses.

Team members participating:

A translator, Yoyo from New Orleans/Honduras registered patients.

Jane Cox, Hugh Guffey, and Donna Goff(translator) examined the patients for eye diseases and abnormalities and checked far visual acuity both before and after the prescription was determined. In Icoteas Patrick Martin worked in Jane Cox's place.

Hugh Guffey and Donna Goff determined the approximate prescription using the autorefractor.

Mary Guffey determined the spherical equivalent and used the trial lens set for refining the prescription.

Debbie Mosakowski and sometimes Mary Guffey checked near visual acuity (both pre- and post- tests) and distributed reading glasses.

Larry Pitts and Jacqueline Head (and in Icoteas, Mary Guffey) assembled the prescription eyewear.

Hope this helps.

Blessings,
Mary
