Ciriboya Clinic Honduran
Missions/CHIMES Plans for 2007 Feb.
9-20, 2007: Kathryn Hall Trujillo and Arnold Trujillo will
go to Tocamacho, Ciriboya, and Limon to meet with Midwives and work
with them regarding the use of Solar Cookers. They will also inventory
the current supply of medicine and materials at the bodegas (storage
houses) in Ciriboya and possibly the home of Wendy’s mom in
Limon. Currently, we expect them to be at the hospital in Ciriboya
on Feb. 15-18th. They will also being discussing the next brigade’s
visit by BPUSA. March 24 through April 8th
(?) Hugh and Mary Guffy plan to be in Honduras working on the Eye
Surgery and the availability of designated space in the Ciriboya
Hospital for Eye Surgery and vision assessment. I am not entirely
sure of this, Can someone review this with the Guffy’s and
correct the information if needed. May 5-12th:
Tom Camp will go with the Richard Bowie team to Limon. Richard is
the head of this team and will lead on their destinations. They
may spend a day or so in Punta Piedra. That decision is up to Richard.
However, I expect Tom will want to connect with the Ciriboya Clinic
Staff and leadership.
Middle of May: The Birthing Project may take a team to Ciriboya
in Mid-May. Please check the BPUSA web site.
May 20-June 9th: Dr. Kay Taylor and the PINCC (Prevention
International No Cervical Cancer) team will go to Central America.
They will first spend two weeks in El Salvador and Nicaragua and
then come to Honduras from June 2-9th. They will have a full complement
of doctors. Check their web site for more information. They will
go to Limon and the Ciriboya Hospital I believe. They will likely
see patients in La Ceiba also. They don’t plan to go to Tocamacho.
June 2-June 10th: Dr. Brad Guffy and Joe Jones
will be taking a group to Ciriboya. They are considering also whether
to go to Tocamacho. Bud McKinney will be the road manager for this
group. Bud hopes that Jesus Cacho will be an assistant road manager
on this trip as she has complete command of English, Spanish, and
Garifuna and is in training as a nurse in Sacramento. We are working
on the funding for her participation. They will overlap with PINCC
for part of this trip.
June 21-30: Steve Kilgore and Jeff Dunaway will
be taking a group to Ciriboya. They are also asking about going
on to Tocamacho from Ciriboya. Bud will also be the road manager
for this group and we are hoping that Jesus will be able to go as
well. We will need additional road managers as more groups come
to Ciriboya. Jesus is an excellent leader and road manager in training
with Bud.
July 6-15: Tom Camp will lead a Medical Brigade
to Ciriboya and Tocamacho. He may go for a short visit to Plaplaya
which is beyond Pueblo Nuevo. Bill Camp will be his road manager
for that group.
July 31-August 9: Billy Click will lead a Medical
Brigade to Ciriboya/Tocomachu area with time in Pueblo Nuevo. Bud
McKinney and Jesus Cacho will be the road managers for that group.
Lexie Hilton will be Billy’s assistant.
Sept/Oct/Nov: AHMEN will be taking an Exploratory
to the Limon/Ciriboya area. They hope to coordinate with the teams
listed in Nov. below.
November 11-17: BPUSA will be going to Ciriboya
and Tocamacho. PINCC and AHMEN would also like to go when BPUSA
goes but have not worked out with Kathryn Hall’s group whether
that is possible or not. We will try to get you more on this later.
We understand that the Carolina Clinic in Limon is “booked”
ever other week for the 2007 year. If you need a place to stay in
Limon, there is a great hotel right on the beach with air conditioning
and toilets in each room.
