Dear Friends and Family,

All over the world, children and families are faced with great suffering. Often we don’t know how to help out. Here is a way to make a difference. I have been invited to join a mission group that will travel to the country of Honduras between May 19th and May 29th, 2005. We will be going to Honduras to help build a public health medical clinic in a small village. The group that I will be going with has traveled there many times before. In past years this group has built sewing schools, a wood-working school, and much more. On the enclosed DVD you will see information regarding a local TV station’s report about the group that I will be traveling with. The man on the DVD, Bill Camp from Sacramento, will be the leader of our group. His brother is one of the original founders of the Honduran Missions group and Bill has made this trip about 5 times.

In order to make this trip I will need to raise $1,500.00. $725.00 will pay for my round trip airline ticket. Another $775.00 will be paying for food, water, interpreters, trucks for transportation and to handle equipment and other supplies to make this a successful mission. Any money I raise above needed expenses I hope to use to purchase hand tools and supplies for the woodworking school. The students need hand tools in order to build furniture and other woodworking projects. The students have to use hand tools because they live and work in communities that have no electricity.

I am very excited about making this trip. The place we are going to in Honduras was destroyed by hurricane Mitch several years ago. Many people died and some people lost everything they had. I know the work we will be doing there is going to help make their lives better. I will meet new friends and learn about other peoples’ lives that I could never learn here in the US. The average adult worker in Honduras makes only $3.00 for an entire day’s work. I know that my life will never be the same after being part of a mission like this!

I am writing to my friends and family to ask for financial support to make this mission trip a reality for me. If you would like to help support me financially any amount would be appreciated. If you live in the Sacramento area, I am available for hire to help on odd jobs around your yard or home in order to raise money. Even if you are not able to support me financially, I would appreciate your prayers for my group, for our safety and our success.

If you would like to support me financially, you may send money directly to me, or send a check to CHIMES (California/Honduras Institute for Medical and Educational Support) at 2222 H Street, Sacramento, Cal. 95816. Once I return from Honduras I will be sending each of you a letter describing the trip and all that I learned and experienced. I will also give you a DVD with photos and perhaps some video of the trip.

Thank You Sincerely
