Clinic
Construction

Buiti Binafui. (Good Morning in Garifuna). Y dabinya? (How are
you? In Garifuna) Abaale (I am fine, how are you? In Garifuna)
As you can see, the team of Garifuna workers with Melvin Goff
and Giovani from Limon are making great progress on the new clinic
in Ciriboya (By the way, the name for the community of Ciriboya
in Garifuna language is Manali.)
This
2 story clinic with living quarters upstairs and treatment rooms
downstairs is located about 40 Kilometers of dirt road due East
of Limon in a Garifuna community right on the beach just like
Limon.
The workers are preparing to pour the
concrete foundation for the 2nd floor. This clinic is designed
to withstand the strongest hurricane in 200 years. However, we
have not gotten all the money and supplies needed to finish this
two story building plus a secure storage building behind the clinic
for safekeeping of the medical supplies for the clinic plus the
septic tank and leach line necessary for intensive use the clinic
will experience. So far we have raised $5,000.00 dollars American
and borrowed $15,000.00 dollars on a line of credit. We need your
help to finish the roof, other construction and pay off the bank
loan. If anyone is able to be a part of this project, please make
your contribution to CHIMES (California-Honduras Institute for
Medical and Education Support) and mail the money to Bill Camp,
2222 H Street, Sacramento, California, 95816. Your participation
is invaluable and will change the life prospects of many people
in this region of the world. Thank you.
As more pictures and information arrive, we will share this information
with you. In the meantime, we hope to have a container going down
in August or September. If you have any medical supplies or books
with Spanish words (Books in Spanish are invaluable to the working
families in this area. They have none. I found that high school
textbooks to teach Spanish to English speaking students are a
great gift to the teachers in the schools in this area. Don’t
worry about them being used. They are worth their weight in gold.
Please mail your material to Lexie Hilton, c/o Hilton Communications,
1345
Skyline Drive, Jasper, Ala. 35501.

More later.
