This is Yolanda, who is one of the main teachers and one of the original teachers for the Sewing School in Limon. This is our first and oldest sewing school. They have about 40 students over a three year program. Of the ladies who have already graduated, they are making a living in some of the following ways:
1, Teaching in other sewing school
2. Sewing in their homes for family and firends
3. Selling out of their home or local shops
4. Moved to other cities and working in various sewing programs.
If anyone wants to be part of this project:
$100 buys a mechanical sewing machine for the schools that do not have electricity - approx 1/2 of our schools.
$100 buys an electrical sewing machine for the schools that have electricity the other 1/2 of the schools.
The schools need thread, needles, cloth, scissors, tape measures, and various sewing paraphenalia.
Have you thought about going to Honduras and being part of the teaching staff for a sewing program for a week?
